NUEVOS CRITERIOS DIAGNÓSTICOS DE ARTRITIS REUMATOIDE 2010
Los criterios para el diagnóstico de Artritis Reumatoide (AR) descritos en 1987 eran criticados por su falta de sensibilidad en el diagnóstico de esta enfermedad en etapas tempranas, por lo cual en septiembre de este año el American College of Rheumatology (ACR) y la European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) publicaron nuevos criterios diagnósticos para la AR. PREVENCIÓN DE INFECCIONES ASOCIADAS A LA ASISTENCIA MÉDICA (IAAM)
Las infecciones asociadas a la asistencia médica (IAAM) son una crisis global que afecta tanto a los pacientes como al personal de asistencia médica. Financieramente, las IAAM representan un impacto anual aproximado de $6.7 mil millones para los centros de salud, pero el costo humano es aún mayor. Un informe de los centros para el control de enfermedades (CDC) publicado en marzo-abril de 2007 calculó que el número de muertes en Estados Unidos por infecciones asociadas a la asistencia médica en 2002 fue 98,987; sin embargo, es probable que el número sea aún mayor. USO CONTEMPORANEO DE LA DIGOXINA
